4/1 that Carroll haunts Newcastle from bench

The 23-year-old has failed to justify his £35million price tag

Bookmaker William Hill are offering odds of 4/1 that Liverpool striker Andy Carroll comes off the bench to score against his former club this Sunday at St James’ Park.

The 23-year-old has failed to justify his £35million price tag since moving from Tyneside to Merseyside last January and has not been a regular feature of Kenny Dalglish’s starting XI so far this season. William Hill also offer betting on how many minutes of the game Carroll will play, with ’76 and over’ the 11/8 favourite but ‘0-15’ the second favourite at odds of 10/3.

Carroll is 2/1 to score at anytime in the match, 7/1 to score the first of the game and 50/1 to get a hat-trick. The Geordie born striker has, however, admitted that he won’t celebrate if he does score this weekend.

“If I scored on Sunday then I wouldn’t celebrate,” Carroll told the Chronicle.

“I hope I get a good reception from the fans, they’ll be getting one from me.

“I thought I did well for the club when I was there and loved it. I have some great memories from playing there.”

William Hill also offer odds of 6/4 that Carroll finishes the game if he starts it, and 1/2 that he is substituted.
