5/4 for Toffees to triumph

The Toffees have scored 10 goals in their previous three league games at Goodison Park

Fifth-placed Newcastle United travel to Goodison Park to take on seventh-placed Everton on Sunday afternoon with the visitors still hoping to secure Champions League qualification.

Phil Neville, Leighton Baines and Darron Gibson may all return to action for the hosts but Victor Anichebe and Jack Rodwell are unlikely to be unavailable.

Alan Pardew will again be without the services of Steven Taylor, Danny Simpson and Peter Lovenkrands while Shola Ameobi and Danny Guthrie face late fitness tests.

Everton extended their unbeaten league run to eight games with a 0-0 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend.

Everton lead Liverpool by one point in the Premier League table and a win on Sunday would secure end-of-season bragging rights over their Merseyside rivals. The Toffees have scored 10 goals in their previous three league games at Goodison Park and have conceded just once in their last seven on home turf. Only league-leaders Manchester City can boast a better defensive record at home in the Premier League this season.

Demba Ba scored 16 goals in 24 appearances for the Magpies before Papiss Cisse made his debut in February but Ba has not netted a single goal since. Cisse, however, has scored 13 goals in 13 games and is available at odds of 11/2 with Paddy Power to break the deadlock on Sunday.

Although Newcastle have won seven of their last nine league games, they have lost two of their last three and have conceded more goals on their travels than any other side in the top half of the Premier League table. Everton will rightly go into the game as favourites and most bookmakers offer tempting odds of 5/4 for David Moyes’ men to take all three points.
