8/13 Gunners to shoot down Villans

in Arsenal's last 16 fixtures, only Manchester City have stopped them from scoring

Arsenal host Aston Villa on Sunday in the fourth round of the FA Cup at the Emirates Stadium and will be looking to end their run of three consecutive defeats against Premier League opposition.

Mikel Arteta and Thierry Henry may return to the Arsenal squad having recovered from injury but Marouane Chamakh and Gervinho are still away on international duty. Jack Wilshere, Bacary Sagna, Kieran Gibbs, Andre Santos and Francis Coquelin all remain sidelined and therefore Arsenal will have a weakened defensive line once again. The likes of Sebastien Squillaci, Ignasi Miquel and Nico Yennaris will be hoping to start. With a trip to Bolton Wanderers to come on Wednesday, Arsene Wenger may opt to rest top goalscorer Robin Van Persie while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain may keep his place after an impressive performance against Manchester United last weekend.

Having scored ten goals in their last five games, Alex McLeish will be confident that his side can break through Arsenal’s makeshift back-four and he is likely to rely on Gabriel Agbonlahor, Robbie Keane and Darren Bent to do exactly that. Defensively, the Villans have problems of their own. They have kept just one clean sheet in their last ten games and, in Arsenal’s last 16 fixtures, only Manchester City have stopped them from scoring. Punters can get 5/6 on both teams to score during the game.

Aston Villa have won four of their last five away games and will be hopeful of causing an upset by knocking the 15/2 fourth favourites out of the Cup. Despite their reason for optimism, a home win seems the most likely outcome and Ladbrokes offer 8/13 for Arsenal to progress on Sunday. A late Yossi Benayoun winner earned Arsenal all three points when the sides met at Villa Park last month. A repeat of that Arsenal 2-1 win is available at a tempting 15/2 with Bet 365.
