Arsenal set to fail in Richards bid

Arsenal are thought to be preparing a bid for versatile Manchester City defender Micah Richards but any offer is expected to be rebuffed by last season’s beaten FA Cup finalists and the move remains odds-against with the bookmakers to transpire.

Although Gunners boss Arsene Wenger continues to speak of his desire to bring in attacking players it is widely accepted that he needs to strengthen his defensive options and Arsenal fans will be pleased that at least a link has been made with Richards who has 13 caps for England.

Unfortunately for the men from North London though Manuel Pellegrini is expected to turn down any approaches as he looks to sort out a defence that conceded three goals against newly promoted Cardiff City last weekend. This is why the move is still priced at odds-against although Sky Bet clearly believe it is not totally out of the question making the transfer 6/4 to happen before the transfer window closes.

The most likely defensive addition at the Emirates continues to be Swansea’s Ashley Williams who remains a best price of 1/2 with Bet Victor to move to Arsenal this summer although the Welsh side are still yet to receive any bids for their captain.
