Arsenal still odds-on to fail in trophy quest

Despite two hugely impressive wins in the space of a week that have left them top of both the Premier League and their Champions League group, Arsenal remain heavily odds-on to fail to win a trophy this season.

The Gunners have been in fine form of late and with a 2-0 win at home to Liverpool on Saturday followed up with an upset 1-0 victory away to Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday they look in a strong position in both competitions.

However, the bookmakers are yet to be convinced and Paddy Power still rate Arsenal at 2/5 to win no trophies at all this season, yet again.

Arsene Wenger’s side’s options are already limited by their elimination from the League Cup at the last 16 stage but with growing optimism surrounding their hopes in both the Premier and Champions Leagues this looks a strangely short price.

After their stunning win in Dortmund the Gunners are now a best price of 20/1 with Bwin to win their first ever Champions League. A shortened price, but they remain behind seven other teams in the betting which would suggest the bookies do not see them going beyond the quarter-finals.

As for the Premier League they remain third favourites at a best price of 4/1 with Coral behind Manchester City and Chelsea despite being five points clear. Many in North London will see that as a great price and it will fall dramatically if they are to win at Manchester United on Saturday.
