Barca resume Champions League favouritism
Barcelona are once again the betting favourites to win the Champions League after overturning a two-goal deficit in their Champions League last-16 second-leg match with AC Milan.
The Catalan club are now made the 7/4 favourites with bookmaker Bet365, having been as big as 6/1 in places prior to the game, after a Lionel Messi double and goals from David Villa and Jordi Alba resulted in a 4-0 win for the four times champions of Europe.
Speaking after the win Barcelona’s caretaker manager Jordi Roura praised Messi for his match-winning performance.
“People speculated that Messi was not in a good moment,” said Roura. "They said I-don't-know-what and I-don't-know-why, this and that. But if anyone had any doubts about Leo, they only have to look at tonight."
"He gave another magisterial lesson in how to play football. He has shown once again that he is extraordinary and that on the big occasions, surrounded by great players, he can do amazing things"
The Argentine now has seven Champions League goals this season, one fewer than Cristiano Ronaldo and Burak Yilmaz. He is quoted at odds of 11/8 with BetVictor to end the season as the competition’s top scorer, with Ronaldo at 11/10 and Yilmaz 8/1.
