Betting suspended on McDermott taking Leeds job

Sky Bet have suspended betting on the next Leeds manager after Brian McDermott was continually backed at as short as 1/7.

The former Reading boss had been installed as the early favourite to replace Neil Warnock before Roberto Di Matteo was backed into favourite on Tuesday, while former Leeds player Dominic Matteo had also received support despite lacking any managerial experience.

However, a sudden surge of money on Wednesday night for McDermott to get the job prompted the online bookmaker to pull the market.

Sky Bet’s Paul Wiggins told Football Betting News: "Whatever price we went to, it was backed by a different account, which is the usual sign that a possible appointment is imminent. We suspended betting after McDermott reached 1/7 and was still being supported.

"This plunge on McDermott comes after decent support earlier in the week for Dominic Matteo so maybe a coaching role beckons for him in a new set up?"
