Bookies pay out on United winning title
Bookmakers Paddy Power and Betfred have paid out on Manchester United winning the 2012/13 Premier League title after Sir Alex Ferguson’s men moved 12 points clear at the top following victory over Everton.
Paddy Power report paying out over £500,000 to punters who backed the Red Devils in their Premier League outright winner market.
“The fat lady might not be singing yet but she's definitely getting warmed up. We can't see United letting their lead slip and, with Real Madrid to come midweek, we thought we'd take some of the pressure off Fergie and give punters an early payday,” a Paddy Power spokesperson told Football Betting News.
Betfred, who have twice been burned paying out early on Man Utd winning the Premier League title, have also reported paying out over £300,000 to United backers.
“After it all went wrong last year, my missus made me promise to never do it again,” said Betfred boss Fred Done.
“But with United 12 points clear with just 12 games left the title race is over - so my punters can collect their dough on United.”
Boylesports have now priced up the 2013/14 Premier League winner market and make United the 13/8 favourites, closely followed by Manchester City at odds of 7/4. Chelsea are 5/1 third favourites, with Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal each at odds of 14/1.
