Bookmaker opens betting on next team name change

Paddy Power have today started taking bets on what will be the next Premier League team name change following the controversial announcement that Hull City AFC will now be known as the Hull City Tigers.

Fans of Premier League clubs can now avail of odds of 500/1 on their clubs long term names to be changed to such monstrosities as the Chelsea 69ers, Everton Fudge, Stoke City Bruisers and Newcastle Loan Sharks.

A Paddy Power spokesperson said “The ‘Frostie’ reception that Hull’s new name has received should put other club owners off of changing much-loved and historic club monikers, but we’ve all seen that plenty of mad and bad things can happen in the soap opera that is the Premier League.”

With the name change going down like a bucket of tiger poo with Hull’s fans, Paddy Power have given them a £10 free bet to ease their pain as part of their ‘Ball of Shame’ campaign, designed to compensate hard done-by fans suffering on the back of mad and bad behaviour in football.
