Bradford 20/1 for Capital One Cup glory
Sky Bet have slashed Bradford’s Capital One Cup odds from 100/1 to 20/1 after the League Two side dumped Arsenal out on penalties.
The Bantams, who led for the majority of the match against a virtually full-strength Gunners side, were 9/1 to win the quarter-final clash and 25/1 to progress via at shoot-out.
The defeat, to a side who were 2,000/1 to win the tournament heading in to the first round, has seen Arsene Wenger cut from 25/1 to 7/1 to be the next Premier League manager to leave.
Chelsea are now the 5/6 favourites to lift the trophy ahead of Aston Villa, who were cut from 9/1 to 7/2 after winning 4-1 at Norwich.
In Tuesday night’s rescheduled Premier League match, Sunderland pulled out of the relegation zone with a 3-0 win over Reading, who are now 3/1 to avoid relegation with their boss Brian McDermott installed as the 2/1 favourite in the next manager to go betting after the defeat.
Sky Bet’s Chris Spicer told Football Betting News: “Failing to beat Bradford would be worrying enough if Wenger had named an experimental squad, but the fact that such a strong side named rings real alarm bells.
“Arsenal’s board are certainly not one to make rash decisions but serious questions are surely being asked with the current side looking so uninspiring.
“Full credit to Bradford though, who have come in from 2,000/1 – fortunately they were not backed at that price but some punters did get on at as long as 500/1.”
