Bradford maintain underdogs tag for cup final

Bradford City are the 9/2 outsiders to beat Swansea (1/6) and win the Capital One Cup this season following a remarkable run that has already seen the Bantams eliminate three Premier League clubs.

Bradford booked their place at Wembley with a 4-3 aggregate win over Aston Villa in Tuesday’s semi-final, and will now face Swansea on 24 February after the Welsh club beat Chelsea 2-0 in the other semi-final on Wednesday.

Sky Bet’s Chris Spicer told Football Betting News: “We’re breathing a sigh of relief that nobody actually backed the Bantams at 2,000/1, although some punters will be double checking their bet receipts after getting on at 500/1.

“The League Two side are obviously heavy outsiders, but who would dare to write them off at Wembley given what they’ve achieved so far in this competition.”

The winners of the Capital One Cup will win a place in next season’s Europa League, despite reports that Bradford might be ineligible.

The League Two club would require a Uefa licence, but an FA spokesman has suggested that wouldn’t cause any issues: “That won’t be a problem, especially with Bradford’s recent status as a Premier League club.”
