Chelsea emerge as favourites for Sanchez swoop
Chelsea are now the favourites with Ladbrokes to sign Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean forward has been in sparkling form for Arsenal this season with 11 Premier League goals but he has just 18 months left on his contract. With rumours suggesting he may not decide to renew with the Gunners, speculation has become rife that he will leave the club with a move to Stamford Bridge looking his most likely destination at present.
Come the end of this season, Sanchez will have just a year left remaining on his £130,000 per week contract but it is thought that he would want a significant upgrade on terms. Clubs in China have reportedly offered him a huge £400,000 per week to make the lucrative move to the Far East and his advisors are believed to be keen on getting near that figure for him to remain in Europe. Teammate Mesut Ozil is in a similar position regarding his contract situation and if the pair were not to sign new deals, Arsenal would be faced with the dilemma of potentially selling their two star players or risk losing them for nothing the following summer.
Since establishing himself as the club's first choice centre forward, Sanchez has been in a rich veign of form and is tied level with Diego Costa at the top of the Premier League scoring charts. It's now thought that Chelsea are keen on pairing the two together and would be happy to increase the 27-year-olds wages. Ladbrokes have a market on his next club and now have the Blues' as the favourites to be Sanchez's next club at odds of 4/1.
The second favourites in the market are Manchester City with Pep Guardiola having signed Sanchez for Barcelona during his spell in charge at the Nou Camp. City would not be phased by his financial demands and with only Sergio Aguero and Kelechi Iheanacho as recognisable centre forwards, Guardiola may feel as though he needs another reliable goalscorer to take City to the next level. For Sanchez to make the move to the Etihad is priced at 5/1 whilst he is at 6s to make the move across Manchester to Manchester United. The last time an Arsenal star striker entered the final year of their contract was Robin van Persie and we all know what happened there...
Ladbrokes News’ Dave Burin said: “Gooners could be in for a fresh dose of transfer woe, with the odds tumbling on yet another Emirates hero jumping ship for a bitter rival”
Juventus are out at 8/1 to tempt Sanchez back to Italy where he used to play for Udinese whilst Barcelona and Real Madrid are priced at 12 and 14/1 respectively.
