Chelsea odds-on to capture Willian

Chelsea are now the odds-on favourites to sign Anzhi Makhachkala midfielder Willian despite the Brazilian having already had a medical at Totenham.

The 25-year-old looked set to move to White Hart Lane for a club record £30million but the Blues have joined the race to sign him at the eleventh hour and are now a best price of 1/2 with Sky Bet to tempt him to Stamford Bridge.

The bookies had stopped taking bets on Willian going to Spurs but Andre Villas-Boas’ side are now 2/1 again with Sky Bet to capture the playmaker.

It certainly looks like it will be one of these two clubs despite Liverpool being thought to be interested in making a bid as well as the Reds are all the way out at 40/1.

Spurs fans will be devastated if their move for the Brazil international is indeed hijacked with Gareth Bale now a best price of 1/40 with Ladbrokes to make his long draw out switch to Real Madrid. Although not a like-for-like replacement for the Welshman, Willian’s arrival would certainly soften the blow of Bale’s imminent departure.
