Chelsea to make third Rooney bid

Jose Mourinho has made it clear that Chelsea plan to make a third bid for Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney although the England striker remains odds-on to still be at Old Trafford come the end of the summer transfer window.

The Blues have seen two bids rejected for the 27-year-old but will presumably up their last offer of £25m plus add-ons. Chelsea are now 11/4 with Ladbrokes to land their man before the end of the transfer window whilst Rooney is 4/9 to remain with the English champions with the same bookmaker.

Mourinho has stated that he does now want to make a bid before the two sides face off on Monday evening saying; “I don't want Chelsea to do it before we go there, I think this period, by the ethical point of view, is a period where we're going to be quiet.”

Bringing up the potential future bid has been seen by some as simply mind games from the Portuguese to make sure that Rooney cannot regain focus on performing for United. However, after two goals each for Robin van Persie and Danny Welbeck on the opening day of the season it is very doubtful that Rooney will be in the Red Devils team against Chelsea.

United are favourites to win the huge clash on Monday night at Old Trafford at a best price of 6/4 with Bet Victor whilst Chelsea are behind at the unusual price of 85/40 with Stan James and the draw behind at 5/2 again with Stan James.
