City now odds-on for League Cup

After two big shocks in the quarter-finals of the Capital One Cup it is Manchester City who have emerged as the odds-on favourites to win the tournament heading into the final four stage.

City saw off Championship side Leicester with ease on Tuesday night and have been rewarded with a semi-final draw that pits them against West Ham. The Hammers may have beaten Tottenham to reach this stage but they are seriously struggling in the Premier League and are not expected to be a match for City over two legs and as such Manuel Pellegrini’s men are just 10/11 with Sky Bet to lift the trophy.

Their biggest rivals are undoubtedly their neighbours United who strolled into the semis on Wednesday night with a 2-0 win away at Stoke. They now meet Sunderland in the last four after the Black Cats edged out Chelsea on Tuesday. Again, it was an impressive win from Sunderland in this competition but they have been woeful in the league and United should eliminate them. United are now 6/4 with Betfred to regain the Capital One Cup.

Sunderland and West Ham are now the distant outsiders to get their hands on the League Cup with the Black Cats at 12/1 with Paddy Power and the Hammers at 14/1 with William Hill.
