City second favourites at home to Bayern

Manchester City find themselves in the rare position of being second favourites despite being at home on Wednesday night as they take on reigning and defending European champions Bayern Munich in the Champion League.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side are a best price of 12/5 with Betfred to continue their 100% record in the group stage of the Champions League on Wednesday evening by handing Bayern their first defeat under Pep Guadiola.

The Bundesliga champions are in to a best price of 13/10 with Bet365 although not all the facts suggest that they will come away with three points as the bookmakers seem to expect.

Whilst Bayern have looked very solid at home so far this season they have already dropped points on the road with a draw away to SC Freiburg at the end of August. They also lost on their last trip to the blue half of Manchester back in December 2011 albeit when they fielded a weakened team due to having already secured top spot in the group.

With two far weaker sides in Group D in CSKA Moscow and Viktoria Plzen neither City nor Bayern would be too disappointed with a draw this evening as they will expect to see off the rest of the competition. A stalemate is available at a best price of 5/2 with Bet Victor and that looks like a very reasonable price indeed.

Their bitter rivals United are also in action tonight away to Shakhtar Donetsk and similarly find themselves in the role of second favourites. The Ukrainians are available at 31/20 with Bet Victor and United are out at 21/10 with Boyle Sports.
