Crystal Palace place weighty price tag on Wilfried Zaha
Crystal palace chairman Steve Parish has put a £20million price-tag on the head of coveted midfielder Wilfried Zaha in an attempt to wade off potential interest from a host of Premier League clubs.
Fulham are the latest in a long list of clubs to be linked with a move for the 19-year-old, with Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City all also rumoured to be interested.
Spurs currently head BetVictor’s Wilfried Zaha transfer betting market at odds of 6/1 to sign the player in this January’s transfer window. Manchester United are the 8/1 second favourites, with Chelsea and Arsenal at 10/1 and Man City 12/1.
However, Parish has today moved to quash any rumours in an attempt to hang on their prized asset for a little longer yet.
“He is an extraordinary talent,” said Parish. “I said at the start of the season that keeping hold of Wilf would be like spending a lot of money on a transfer. Other sides can fly their kites but it would take £20m before we even got interested.
"He has got the lot, provided he keeps his feet on the ground and continues working so hard on his game - then it will all come.
"People would have to compensate us accordingly for losing his talent - that is what a transfer fee is.
"All the teams have got to understand that you get £60m in TV money if you get into the Premier League, which is where we want to get. So we'd need to be compensated for reducing our chances of getting there."
