De Gea On Real Madrid Radar

David de Gea's Manchester United future has once again been thrown in to doubt with mounting speculation that Real Madrid will again make attempts to bring him back to Spain. The United number one saw a move to the Santiago Bernabeu collapse in August 2015 due to an issue over paperwork but it appears as though the Spanish giants will come in for him again this summer.

BetVictor currently offer odds of evens that De Gea will be a Real player after the summer transfer window and these odds come after many press reports suggesting that a summer move is likely. According to reports in the British tabloid press, De Gea has recently put his house on the market prompting further suggestions that he could be returning to Spain in the summer. The 26-year-old came through the ranks at Real's cross city rivals Atletico and his long term girlfriend still lives in the Spanish capital.

De Gea is under contract at Old Trafford until 2019 but there is the growing feeling that he could be sold this summer and there was even suggestions that he and United boss Jose Mourinho fell out after remarks from Mourinho after his performance against West Brom. The United manager had suggested his goalkeeper had been 'sleeping' towards the end of the game and De Gea was subsequently left out of the starting line-up for the next league game away to Sunderland.

Ever since De Gea's protracted move to Real fell through in 2015, the reports have continued to circulate that he would one day make the switch and it appears as though we will be in for a summer of constant rumours. Skybet also offer odds on the move happening and have it at the fractionally longer price of 11/10. They are however also quite favourable over his chances of remaining at Old Trafford and offer odds of 4/6 that he is still a Manchester United player come the end of the transfer window.

One of the ways in which United may be able to keep hold of their man is by tempting him with a bumper new contract. The Manchester Evening News have reported that the Red Devils could be prepared to take up the option of extending De Gea's contract by a further year with significantly increased terms. The paper has suggested that they would be willing to offer the Spaniard terms of up to £200,000 per week, which would see him amongst the club's highest earners.

It looks to be another summer filled with transfer talk for De Gea but it would be a huge blow to Jose Mourinho and United if he were to leave. He was named in the PFA Team of the Year for the fourth time and is widely considered to be amongst the best goalkeepers in the world.
