Defoe linked with MLS move
Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane in the near future and Major League Soccer has emerged as his most likely next destination according to bookmaker Sky Bet.
The England striker has found first team opportunities hard to come by in North London since the arrival of Roberto Soldado from Valencia over the summer and in order to make it into his country’s World Cup squad next year there is a feeling he will need to play more regularly.
Although just speculation at this stage Sky Bet are offering 5/4 on the 31-year-old being at any MLS club after the January transfer window.
The second in line in this market is Defoe’s former club West Ham who have been woefully short of a high calibre striker and sometimes any striker at all, so far this season. Sam Allardyce would undoubtedly be thrilled to have Defoe in his ranks and the Hammers are a best price of 7/4, again with Sky Bet, to bring him in over January.
Championship side QPR were linked with a move for Defoe over the summer but they are out at 18/1 to sign him in the next transfer window.
