England not fancied to qualify from group of death
The bookmakers seem to agree with FA Chairman Greg Dyke in thinking that England will not enjoy much success at next year’s World Cup in Brazil as they are outsiders to qualify for the knockout stages from the perilous Group D.
There is not an awful lot in the odds between England and their major rivals in the group Italy and Uruguay but the Three Lions remain behind the two teams in the betting to qualify for the last 16.
Italy are favourites to progress at 1/2 with Betfred with Uruguay just behind at 8/15 with Sky Bet whilst England, although still odds-on are in third place in the group at 4/6 with Bet365. These are fairly frustrating prices from the bookmakers as it means there is no great value in backing any of these teams at this stage; the only odds-against team in the group being Costa Rica at 12/1 with Bet365.
The most optimistic of England fans can back their team to win the group against the odds at 23/10 with Ladbrokes although that looks very unlikely at this stage.
