England odds-against for Chile win

England continue their preparations for next summer’s World Cup with a friendly against Chile at Wembley on Friday night, a contest that they are perhaps surprisingly odds-against to win with some bookmakers.

As ever with international friendlies there have been a number of withdrawals from the first team due to minor injuries with the likes of Steven Gerrard, Kyle Walker, Rickie Lambert and Danny Welbeck all pulling out. This may well have played in a part in Bet Victor offering a best price of 11/10 on the Three Lions pulling off a victory.

Another seed of doubt that will have been planted in the bookies’ minds is the goalkeeping situation after Roy Hodgson confirmed that Joe Hart would not start against the Chileans. This leaves the gloves to either John Ruddy, who has played one half of an international game, and Fraser Forster who is yet to take to the field for his country.

Southampton pair Jay Rodriguez and Adam Lallana look set to win their first caps for the national side tonight and will be eager to impress. Rodriguez is a best price of 10/3 with William Hill to get himself on the score sheet whilst Saints captain Lallana is 5/1 with Betfred.

Chile, who finished third in the South American qualifying section for the World Cup are available at 3/1 with Sky Bet to pull off a shock win whilst the draw is 5/2 with the same bookmaker.
