Griezmann now odds-on for United switch
Manchester United's move for Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann looks like it could be the big transfer of the summer with Ladbrokes having it at odds-on to happen. Reports on both Sky Sports and national newspapers have suggested that United's interest in the France star is concrete and that Jose Mourinho will make his move at the end of the season.
Griezmann has scored over 50 goals in the last two seasons for Atletico and was the top scorer for host nation France during Euro 2016. With Zlatan Ibrahimovic now 35 and Wayne Rooney's future in doubt, the Red Devils may well look to enter the transfer market for a forward, with reports suggesting that tentative negotiations have already taken place. Any potential deal would likely see United have to pay Griezmann's buyout clause which is 100 million euros, so this could eclipse the world-record fee the Old Trafford club paid for Paul Pogba.
With Memphis Depay set to join Lyon, there is also speculation that Griezmann could be set to inherit the famous Manchester United number 7 shirt. Growing up as a huge United fan, the 25-year-old idolised David Beckham and this potential move could see him follow in Beckham's footsteps.
As previously mentioned, Ladbrokes are seemingly confident of this one happening and offer the move at a price as short as 4/5. That specific price is offered for United to be his next club so it's well worth noting that there is no specific timing on that market and it is not the odds for him to join in January or in the summer transfer window.
Another factor which could persuade Griezmann in making the move to Manchester is his close relationship with Paul Pogba. The two are international teammates and are very good friends, with the Atletico Madrid striker previously detailing how the pair have had held conversations regarding linking-up at Old Trafford.
This is a move that certainly appears to have substance with Richard Marsh of Ladbrokes News stating: "The deal has been on the cards for months, but the latest odds suggest it's now only a matter of time before Griezmann teams up with Zlatan and Pogba at Old Trafford."
