Hart still expected to start at World Cup
Joe Hart’s morale-battering few weeks continued today with the confirmation that he will not start England’s friendly on Friday with Chile at Wembley, however the bookmakers do expect him to come through and regain his first team spot for the World Cup next year.
The Manchester City number one has lost his place in his club side and will now have to watch from the bench as either Fraser Forster or John Ruddy take the gloves against the Chileans.
Hodgson has suggested that Hart is still his number one choice though and will start against Germany next week. As a result Coral have made him just 1/5 to start his country’s first game at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil whilst they will also offer 10/3 on him not filling that role.
Forster seems to be the most likely replacement for Hart on Friday after his impressive performances for Celtic, especially in the Champions League. The former Newcastle man is currently a best price of 4/5 with Paddy Power just to make it into the World Cup squad and if he gets a chance and puts in a decent display on Friday then this price will come tumbling down.
Ruddy is behind at a best price of 5/4 with Bet Victor to make the squad next summer and just like Forster, if he can impress then this will become excellent value.
