Ireland not fancied for World Cup qualification

Republic of Ireland may be level on points with second and third placed Austria and Sweden in Group C of qualifying for the 2014 World Cup but the bookies do not fancy the men in green to make it to Brazil as they are rated at 5/2 to achieve a top two finish in their qualifying group.

Germany are the runaway leaders of the group but there is a play-off spot up for grabs for the side who finish behind them and at the moment it is a dead heat between the three sides who all have 11 points although Ireland are behind the other two sides on goal difference.

Giovanni Trapattoni’s men host Sweden on Friday night and then travel to take on Austria next Tuesday so their fate may be all but known by the end of those two clashes but the best price before the two matches is 5/2 with 888sport for the Irish to finish ahead of those two opponents in the table.

Sweden are the favourites to take second place at 20/19 again with 888sport whilst Austria are at 6/4 with the same bookmaker.
