Lallana odds-against for World Cup despite Walcott injury

Theo Walcott’s injury may have been a huge blow to both Arsene Wenger and Roy Hodgson as the forward is ruled out for the rest of the Premier League season and the World Cup but it does open the door for other players to make it to Brazil, most notably Adam Lallana who remains a best price of 11/8 to be in Hodgson’s final 23.

In the two matches the Southampton man has played for England he has taken up the wide attacking role usually filled by Walcott and in his absence he has every chance of taking it up again. Despite this, Bet Victor are willing to offer 11/8 on the Saints captain being on the plane to Rio which looks an incredibly good price in the circumstances.

Walcott’s injury may also open the door for either Raheem Stirling or Aaron Lennon to fill the void, both of whom are available at tempting prices. The Liverpool man, who has seen a return to form in recent weeks, is available at 9/4 with Bet365 to make it into the squad whilst Lennon is t 2/1 with Bet Victor to go to his third World Cup.

Elsewhere another good price is the 16/1 offered by Ladbrokes on Tom Huddlestone making it into the final 23. The Hull man has been in fine form and has come with rave reviews from his boss Steve Bruce which may just convince Hodgson to take the midfielder to South America.
