Liverpool top-4 odds lengthen as transfer window closes
Liverpool are out to odds of 11/4 for a top-four finish after The Reds failed to bring in a striker before the closure of the transfer window, whilst also allowing Andy Carroll to join West Ham on a season-long loan.
Brendan Rodgers was left perplexed as the club failed to bring in either Clint Dempsey or Daniel Sturridge after letting Carroll move to West Ham. The new Liverpool boss had stated earlier in the week that he was keen to have at least three front line strikers at the club for the season ahead.
“I’ve been given as much confidence as I can possibly get that we will have someone to come in,” said Rodgers speaking on Thursday.
“I’ve said all along that I have Luis Suarez and Fabio Borini as front line strikers, and the young lads like Adam Morgan are getting experience, but between now and January I need more than that.
“Hopefully on Friday we can do some work and get something complete because we certainly need it. I am hoping for one or two. We need one, that’s for sure.
Bet365 now offer odds of 11/4 on Liverpool attaining a top-4 finish this season, while the Anfield club are out to 40/1 with Betfred to win the Premier League this season.
BetVictor offer odds of 16/1 that Luis Suarez finishes the season as the Premier League’s top goalscorer, while Sportingbet offer odds of 11/10 that Carroll scores more than 10 league goals for The Hammers.
