Manchester clubs drift in Champions League betting

Both Manchester United and their local rivals City have drifted in the betting to win the Champions League after both failed to win in the competition on Wednesday evening.

David Moyes’ United picked up a creditable but slightly disappointing 1-1 draw away to Shakhtar Donetsk and are now a best price of 16/1 with Stan James to lift the Champions League trophy this season.

Meanwhile at the City of Manchester Stadium City were played off the park by the defending champions Bayern Munich and their inability to deal with the Bavarians has seen Manuel Pellegrini’s team drift out to 18/1 with Paddy Power to win the tournament.

The bookmakers see both Manchester clubs as having much the same chance of success as the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, PSG and Borussia Dortmund whilst three clubs command by far the shortest odds, these being Bayern, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The three big guns of the competition all kept up their 100% records in the group stage on Wednesday night but it is Bayern who have impressed the most and they remain clear favourites for the title at a best price of 7/2 with Bet Victor. Barca follow them at 9/2 with Bet365 and then come Real at 5/1 with Sky Bet.
