Munich made strong Champions League favourites

Bayern Munich will head into the Champions League Final at Wembley on Saturday as 4/5 favourites against Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund who are at 7/2 to win the game.

Bookmaker Paddy Power are giving odds of 13/5 on the draw and 12/1 that Munich or Dortmund will lift the trophy after penalties. German teams tend to do quite well when it comes to shootouts so Paddy Power are offering 25/1 that the match will be decided by sudden death penalties.

Although Borussia are the underdogs they do have in form striker Robert Lewandowski spearheading their attack. The Polish goal machine is being offered at odds of 6/1 to get the first goal, 17/10 to score at any time, and 66/1 to score a hat trick – a feat only managed in a Final by the trio of Di Stefano, Puskas, and Prati. Paddy Power also have a money back special on the striker, if he scores the last goal in the match the bookmaker will refund all losing First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct Score & Scorecast singles on the match!

With both sides having no trouble with finding the back of the net Paddy Power are giving 4/1 that there will be over 4.5 goals in the game whilst the odds on a 0-0 draw are 11/1. The attacking talents of both sides look likely to decide the game and in the betting on the official man of the match Arjen Robben is favourite for the award at 11/2. He is followed by Lewandowski, Muller, and Gomez all at 8/1. Borussia have had a habit of leaving it late in the competition so far this season and the odds on Munich to win the first half and Dortmund to win the second are at 35/1.

The Champions League Final is the climax of the football season and therefore tends see a fair few famous faces in attendance. Paddy Power are doing a special market on celebrity figures being shown on the TV coverage of the game and have odds of 4/9 that Sir Alex Ferguson will be present. Recently retired David Beckham is 8/11 to show up whilst Jose Mourinho is at 9/4. Serial sports event attendee Pippa Middleton is 8/1 whilst Wills and Kate are 20/1. The Queen is 100/1 to be at the game whilst everyone’s favourite full kit wally John Terry is 2/1 to be there and 500/1 to get carried away and be the first man to lift the trophy for the winning team.

A Paddy Power spokesman told Football Betting News; “The Champions League Final is going to be a great occasion, mainly because it involves the Germans playing at Wembley without the possibility of English heartbreak. Borussia will be relying on the talents of Robert Lewandowski to see them through against probably the best team in the world but we don’t really mind who wins, as long UEFA keep JT away from the trophy lift.”
