Newcastle 11/8 to re-sign Ba

Newcastle have emerged as the strong favourites to re-sign their former striker Demba Ba from Chelsea on loan before the transfer window closes after it has emerged that they have held talks with the Sengal international.

Competition for the lone striker role at Stamford Bridge is rife with Fernando Torres, Romelu Lukaku, Andre Schurrle and now Samuel Eto’o all vying for a single spot in the team so Ba could well be deemed surplus to requirements, especially having started once already this season and failing to impress.

This has led Sky Bet to pricing Ba at just 11/8 to make a swift return to St James’ Park which sounds a short price but given that talks have been held then it could well be one that is worth snapping up before it shrinks still further.

West Ham, another of Ba’s old clubs, are also believed to be interested in the 28-year-old and had previously been favourites to secure his signature but they have drifted to 5/1 again with Sky Bet. A club whose price is shortening in the market though is Roma who have come in to third favourites to sign Ba at 6/1 with the same bookmaker.
