No clear favourite for Forest job
Despite being one of the biggest club’s in the Championship and still in the race for promotion to the Premier League, the vacant Nottingham Forest job seems to be one that no one wants and the bookies cannot see a clear favourite for the role.
Both Neil Warnock and Stuart Pearce appear to have turned the job down after talks with the owners at the City Ground and that has left the market wide open. Gianfranco Zola is currently the favourite to take up the position but he is still available at a lengthy best price of 7/2 with Bet Victor.
Behind the Italian in the betting are Malky Mackay at 7/1 with Bet Victor, former West Brom chief Steve Clarke who is at 9/1 with the same company and current Republic of Ireland boss Martin O’Neill who is 10/1.
One candidate that certainly looks a possibility is son of legendary Forest boss Brian Clough, Nigel. The former England international is doing an excellent job in League One with Sheffield United and his ties to the club are strong having also made over 300 appearances for them. Clough is available at 14/1 with Ladbrokes to take the job and could well be a sound investment at that price.
