Pearce now 1/8 to leave role

Sky Bet have pushed out the odds on Stuart Pearce staying on as England Under-21s manager from 2/1 to 9/2 after their European Championship campaign ended on a new low.

The young Three Lions crashed out with a third successive defeat, losing 1-0 to hosts Israel, meaning they have failed to make it out of their group for a second successive time with another winless campaign.

Sky Bet had responded to Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Norway, which mathematically ended their chances of qualifying, by making Pearce 2/1 to renew his current contract, but have pushed those odds out further following another lacklustre display.

Sky Bet Football Trader Paul Lowery told Football Betting News: “While Pearce was relatively limited due to the amount of important players unavailable for selection, it must still be considered a below-par showing in Israel.

”Our punters certainly seem to see it as time for a change with very little support for him to sign a new deal, while it remains to be seen as to whether he would even want to continue in the role given his negative post-match comments throughout the tournament.”
