Pep Guardiola odds-on for Chelsea job next season
Pep Guardiola has been backed into odds-on to be appointed the 'permanent' boss of Chelsea next season according to Ladbrokes.
After the announcement that Rafa Benitez would take over as Chelsea's interim manager punters are presuming Guardiola will be finished with his sabbatical by August 2013 and have piled into his chances to be Chelsea's next permanent boss, backing him into 8/11 from even money.
It's 5/2 that Benitez impresses Abramovich and is re-appointed as permanent manager or there's an 11/1 chance Mourinho returns to SW6.
And punters who have backed Guardiola, Moyes (16/1) or Redknapp (25/1) need not throw their betting slip away as the firm are paying out on both Rafa Benitez and his successor next season.
During Benitez's time at Stamford Bridge it's 11/10 that they win a major trophy between now and May and the odds favour them to finish 3rd in the league (6/5). There's a 5/1 chance that Rafa gives Torres the ultimate confidence boost by naming him as Chelsea captain in his first match in charge.
And as the managerial merry-go-round continues Roberto Mancini's odds of being the next Premier League manager to leave have taken a hammering in the betting as he's now 5/1 to be next out, having been 16/1 before kick-off on Wednesday night.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes told Football Betting News: "Get your Guardiola betting slip out of the bin as your winnings will be ready for collection next summer. Benitez might only be there until the end of the season but it looks like he could turn things around and add at least one piece of silverware to the trophy cabinet this season."
She added: "QPR can't even win the sack race and they might still be beaten again if Mancini's the fall guy for City's Champions League exit."
