Real still La Liga favourites despite Clasico defeat

Barcelona’s stunning victory in El Clasico leaves them just one point behind joint La Liga leaders Atletico and Real Madrid but it is Real who remain odds-on favourites to win the title with just nine games left to play.

Barca fought back from behind to win 3-4 at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday evening putting them on 69 points with the two clubs from the capital just one ahead of them. Atleti are currently topping the table due to the head-to-head results between them and their city rivals.

So despite losing out to their great rivals at the weekend and not topping the table it is Real who are favourites to lift the trophy come the end of the season at a best price of 5/6 with Bet365. They are followed by Barca at 7/4 with Sky Bet and then come the current leaders at 11/2 with Bet Victor.

This could all change very soon though as in the midweek games both Atletico and Barca have distinctly winnable home games whilst Real face a tricky trip to the in-form Sevilla.

Despite Lionel Messi’s hat-trick on Sunday evening he is still five goals behind Cristiano Ronaldo in the race to be La Liga top scorer. The Portuguese is still just 1/3 with William Hill to win that award.
