Redknapp nailed on for QPR job as Hughes departs
Harry Redknapp is the 1/33 favourite with Ladbrokes to be the next manager of Queens Park Rangers as Mark Hughes’ prolonged public execution comes to an end.
Without a single victory in their 12 Premier League games this season and rooted to the bottom of the table, Rangers have moved to terminate Hughes’s contract just over 24 hours before their game with Manchester United at Old Trafford this weekend.
“Queens Park Rangers Football Club has today (Friday) terminated the contract of manager Mark Hughes with immediate effect,” said a statement on the club’s website.
“This decision has been taken after careful consideration by the Board of Directors, following numerous meetings over the last few days.
“The Board will now be working actively to put a new managerial structure in place as soon as possible.”
That manager looks nailed on to be the former Tottenham and Portsmouth boss, with Ladbrokes offering odds as short as 1/33 about Redknapp taking over at Loftus Road.
Others who may come into contention include Sven Goran Eriksson (10/1), Roberto di Matteo (20/1) and Tim Sherwood (40/1). But for now it is all about one man, and if Redknapp wants the job then it is surely his.
