Ribery favourite to win Ballon dOr
Frank Ribery has been installed as the early favourite to win the 2013 Fifa Ballon d’Or ahead of the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Bayern Munich and France winger has already been crowned UEFA’s Best Player in Europe this year and he is a best price of just 5/4 with Stan James to add the Ballon d’Or award to his impressive mantelpiece.
Many believe that it must be a Bayern player that wins the gong after the team’s outrageously successful 2012-13 season which saw them win the Champions League, Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal (German FA Cup).
Messi has won all three of the awards since it was rebranded as the Fifa Ballon D’Or in 2010 and he is still in with a shout of winning it yet again with a best price of 7/4 with Bet365. The Argentinian is still widely regarded as the best player in the world and his global reputation may be enough to secure him enough votes.
The other realistic contender is Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo who has been runner-up for the last two years. He is a best price of 9/1 again with Bet365 and given that his team failed to win a trophy last season he looks set to miss out again.
The inclusion of Gareth Bale has made headlines in Britain but in truth the Welshman has next to no chance of claiming the prize as his price represents at 66/1 with Bet Victor.
