Rodriguez 12/1 to make World Cup squad

Jay Rodriguez is a best price of 12/1 to make it into England’s squad for next summer’s World Cup in Brazil after receiving his first call up for the senior side for the friendlies with Chile and Germany at Wembley this month.

The 24-year-old has been in fine form for Southampton so far this season with four goals in all competitions and that has seen him called up to join five other strikers for the two friendlies. He has some serious work to do to get past those five and onto the flight to Brazil and that is why Bet Victor are offering the seemingly quite generous price of 12/1.

Rodriguez’s teammate at Southampton Adam Lallana has also been called up for the Three Lions and the bookies seem to think that the Saints captain has a better chance of making it to Brazil than the striker. Ladbrokes have made the midfielder just 8/1 to make the final World Cup squad despite the fact he is yet to earn his first cap as yet.

The Saints player with the best chance of making the World Cup according to the bookmakers is Rickie Lambert who is odds-on in places but remains a best price of 9/4 with Coral.
