Rooney odds-on for Blues switch
Sky Bet have slashed the odds on Wayne Rooney joining Chelsea from 11/2 to 2/5 following confirmation of an initial bid being rejected by Manchester United.
The 27-year-old was cut to 1/5 to remain at Old Trafford after David Moyes initially insisted he was not for sale, but those odds have now drifted out to 2/1 with the striker showing no signs of changing his stance on wanting to leave.
Sky Bet Football Trader Chris Spicer said: "We were convinced that Rooney would not be allowed to leave after Moyes laid down his initial stance, but his recent comments are somewhat confusing.
"Relations are starting to appear irreparable and we have now installed Chelsea as the favourites for the Premier League at 9/4, which would shorten significantly if they secure Rooney's services."
Meanwhile, Napoli have emerged as the odds-on favourites to sign Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain, with the online betting firm pushing Arsenal’s odds out to 2/1.
The bookmaker suspended betting on the striker moving to the Emirates last week amid reports of a deal being agreed, but now make the Italian outfit favourites following an apparent failure to complete the deal.
