Sherwood favourite for Spurs job

Tim Sherwood has is currently the favourite to become the next Tottenham boss after Andre Villas-Boas' dismissal on Monday as the former England midfielder has been handed the role of caretaker manager at White Hart Lane.

Sherwood is the Technical Coordinator at Spurs which sees him hold responsibility for the under-21 development squad and the youth set-up and he will take charge of the first team for the Capital One Cup quarter-final contest against West Ham on Wednesday. If the side perform well against the Hammers then the 44-year-old will have every chance of landing the job on a permanent basis and that is why he is a best price of 5/2 with Coral to do just that.

A former Spurs player and capped three times by England, Sherwood is a highly respected coach nowadays and would certainly have the backing of most fans given his excellent reputation at the club.

The initial favourite for the job had been Fabio Capello but he has drifted out to a best price of 8/1 with Sky Bet as it seems he will want to focus on taking Russia to the World Cup next year.

Swansea manager Michael Laudrup appears to still be in the frame though and is a best price of just 11/2 with Sky Bet to take over at White Hart Lane.
