Solskjaer favourite for Cardiff job

The chaos at Cardiff City is set to continue for the foreseeable future with owner Vincent Tan in charge and despite Malky Mackay still being the manager of the team at the time of writing, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is odds-on favourite to be the next boss at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Tan has reportedly told Mackay that he must resign or will be sacked in the near future and although the Scot has refused to hand in his notice the relationship certainly now looks untenable at the club.

Chairman Mehmet Dalman is said to have a choice in mind to replace Mackay who is a “a high-profile name currently in work outside the UK.” As a result it is the former Manchester United striker Solskjaer who has emerged as the early favourite at a best price of 5/6 with Paddy Power.

Interestingly the current Molde boss Solskjaer and Mackay are joint favourites to be the next West Brom boss at 2/1 with Sky Bet and Betfred respectively. Certainly the bookies are set to be proved wrong in one of the markets.

Also in contention for the Cardiff job according to the bookies is prolific Turkish manager Yilmaz Vural who has taken charge of a host of clubs in his home country but with little success and would be seen as a bizarre choice. The 60-year-old is 7/2 with Bet Victor to take over in Wales.
