Stoke favourite to land Jack Butland
Stoke City are the betting favourites to land goalkeeper Jack Butland on deadline day at odds of 1/2 with BetVictor.
Birmingham had accepted a £3.5million offer from Chelsea for the 19-year-old, but the player rejected the chance to join the European Champions as it was anticipated that first-team opportunities would be rare. The Blues are now out to odds of 8/1 to sign the England international.
Should Butland complete his move to Stoke this January then it is expected that he would remain at Birmingham for the remainder of this season.
The player’s agent, Gary Mellor, told BBC Sport: “Jack's enjoying playing for Birmingham and he is gaining valuable experience.
“He will listen to what any club that meets Birmingham's asking price has to say, but playing is of paramount importance for Jack.”
Butland was linked with a host of Premier League clubs last summer, including Southampton, Everton, Liverpool, Fulham and Newcastle, but Birmingham are now keen to sell in order to ease financial problems at the club.
