Sturridge 4/1 to be England World Cup top scorer

Daniel Sturridge is arguably the form player in the Premier League at the moment as the Liverpool striker added two more goals to his season’s tally on Sunday and he is a very tempting best price of 4/1 to be England’s top scorer at this summer’s World Cup.

The 24-year-old has now struck 18 times in the Premier League this season and in each of his last eight appearances in the competition. He is now eight goals ahead of any other Englishman in the scoring charts as Wayne Rooney and Jay Rodriguez have each found the back of the net 10 times this campaign.

These performances have not fully convinced the bookmakers of his international ability as he remains out at 4/1 with Betfred to be England’s top scorer in Brazil this summer. The favourite in the market is Rooney who is at 5/2 with the same bookmaker.

With Sturridge not even favourite to outscore his team-mates at the World Cup it is no surprise he is a lengthy price to claim the Golden Boot and is all the way out at 80/1 with Bet365 to win the award.
