Sturridge second favourite for Golden Boot

Daniel Sturridge’s incredible start to the Premier League season continued on Monday night as he scored in the fourth consecutive game for Liverpool in the 2-2 draw with Swansea at the Liberty Stadium and he is now second favourite to be the Premier League’s top scorer this campaign.

The former Chelsea and Manchester City striker took his tally to four in four games, level with Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud and Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke. The Englishman is now a best price of 9/1 with Ladbrokes to top the scoring charts whilst the Frenchman is 10/1 with Sky Bet, as is the Villa star with 888sport.

The favourite, however, remains Manchester United’s Robin van Persie who may not have been at his very best at the start of the campaign, but he still has three goals in the opening four contests and given his record in recent seasons it would be a big surprise if he did not pass the 20 goal mark. The Dutchman is a relatively small best price of 5/2 with Bet Victor to score more than any other in the league this campaign and if he avoids injury then that could still prove excellent vale.

As for Sturridge, his club form has quickly seen him become key to Roy Hodgson’s England plans and he is now a best price of 4/9 with Stan James to make it to the World Cup in Brazil.
