Townsend not backed to repeat heroics

After Andros Townsend’s dream England debut on Friday night many have him labelled as the next great winger for the Three Lions but the bookmakers do not expect him to repeat the goal scoring feat of last week against Poland on Tuesday night.

The Spurs winger may have opened his international account in style against Montenegro but he is a best price of 9/2 with Ladbrokes to score at any point against Poland behind the likes of Jermaine Defoe and Rickie Lambert who are unlikely to even get off the substitutes bench.

Townsend is also unlikely to pick up consecutive man of the match awards according to the bookies with Ladbrokes rating him at 11/2 to pick up the champagne at the end of 90 minutes.

The leader of England’s attack of late has been Wayne Rooney who has scored six goals in his last five qualifiers including one more on Friday against the Montenegrins. He is odds-on in many places to score on Tuesday but a best price of 5/4 with Bet365 which looks great value for a fine player in top form.

England are hot favourites to win the game at a best price of 2/7 with Paddy Power whilst the Poles are well behind at 14/1 with Bet365 and the draw available at 11/2 with the same bookmaker.
