Unbeaten Wigan 249/1 for Europa League

Wigan have begun their campaign in the Europa League in fine style with a win and a draw from their first two games but it is not enough to convince the bookmakers that they have a chance of winning the competition with their odds remaining astronomical to get their hands on the trophy.

Last season’s FA Cup winners followed up their encouraging stalemate away to Zulte Waregem with a thoroughly impressive 3-1 win over experienced European side NK Maribor on Thursday night leaving them second in Group D behind Rubin Kazan who have six points from two games.

Wigan, despite being in the Championship, have clearly shown they can handle themselves at Europa League level but they remain a best price of 249/1 with 888sport to become champions of Europe's second-tier this year.

Other bookies are not ruling them out so much though with their price ranging from that high end to a much lower 80/1 in some places.

After their comfortable win away to Anzhi Makhachkala it is Spurs who remain favourites for the competition though at a best price of 15/2 with Stan James, whilst Swansea also kept up their 100% start on Thursday and are joint third favourites at 24/1 with 888sport.
