Van Gaal favourite to replace Moyes
Veteran Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal has emerged as the clear favourite to be the next permanent manager of Manchester United after David Moyes was officially sacked by the club on Tuesday morning.
The 62-year-old Dutchman has enjoyed enormous success with the likes of Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich in a long career and has one of the most impressive managerial CVs in world football. The bookmakers expect the hierarchy at Old Trafford to be enticed by this vast experience and Van Gaal is now a best price of just 7/4 with Boyle Sports to be the next United manager.
He is currently in charge of his national team and will lead the Dutch at the forthcoming World Cup in Brazil. Should he accept the United job he would only be able to begin his duties after the summer’s international tournament.
Ryan Giggs has been placed in temporary charge of the first team and will remain in the position until the end of the season. The Welsh legend is thought to have a chance of keeping the role permanently and is available at 8/1 with Stan James to do just that.
Other contenders include Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp who is available at 10/1 with Coral whilst Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone is out at 18/1 with Sky Bet.
