Zola favourite for West Brom job
Gianfranco Zola has emerged as the favourite to take over as manager of West Brom after Steve Clarke was dismissed at the weekend and the Italian resigned from his role as Watford boss on Monday.
Zola enjoyed an impressive first season with Watford last year but has failed to replicate that this time around leaving the Hornets in a very disappointing 13th after 20 games played. That has not seemed to put the bookmakers off him making a return to the Premier League though as he is just 5/2 with Sky Bet to move to the Hawthorns.
The diminutive Italian’s last stint in the Premier League was not an especially inspiring one as he battled relegation with West Ham and ended his Hammers career with a win percentage of just 28%.
Also in line for the Baggies job is the recently ousted Fulham boss Martin Jol who is available at 11/2 with Sky Bet. The Dutchman did not have a great time of it at Craven Cottage but remains a respected figure in the game and potentially could make a swift return to management.
A left-field choice would be the current Red Bull Salzburg and RB Leipzig sporting director Ralf Rangnick. It seems an unlikely choice at present but the 8/1 offered by 888sport suggests it is not entirely unfeasible.
