Arsenal 3/10 to get back on track

Only the top three have won more points at home

Arsenal host Blackburn Rovers at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday looking for a first Premier League win in 2012.

Jack Wilshere, Abou Diaby, Carl Jenkinson, Andre Santos and Kieran Gibbs are all unavailable for the Gunners while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is a slight doubt.

Steve Kean has revealed that want-away captain Christopher Samba will not be included in the squad while Yakubu serves the final game of his three-match ban following his sending off against Fulham last month. New signing Bradley Orr may make his debut.

Arsenal’s goalless draw with Bolton on Wednesday night followed three straight defeats for the Gunners and their hopes of a top-four finish have been severely dented as a result. Three of those four games were played away from home but Arsenal’s form at the Emirates this season has been a different story altogether. Only the top three have won more points at home in the league and only league-leaders Manchester City have conceded fewer goals.

Blackburn find themselves in the relegation zone and that is in no small part due to the fact that they have not kept a clean sheet all season and that they currently have the second-worst defensive record in the league. However, only Arsenal and the Premier League’s top five have scored more than Rovers and the last time these two sides met, Steve Kean’s side edged past the Gunners in a seven-goal thriller at Ewood Park. Ladbrokes offer 11/10 on both teams scoring during the game.

Mikel Arteta’s role in the Arsenal side has become crucial in the absence of Jack Wilshere and he will be expected to give top scorer Robin Van Persie the service he needs. Arteta has scored five times in the Premier League against Blackburn and Ladbrokes offer very generous odds of 7/2 that he scores at any time during the game. Several bookmakers offer no bigger than 2/1.

Arsene Wenger’s side currently lies in sixth place in the table, five points behind Chelsea in fourth. Nothing but a win will suffice for Arsenal if they are to maintain their challenge for a Champions League place and they are 3/10 with Coral to take all three points and further frustrate the under-pressure Rovers boss.
