Arsenal 8/11 to make no further January signings
Bookmaker William Hill offer odds of 8/11 that Arsenal do not bring in any new players during the January transfer window.
Arsene Wenger has stated that he has no intention of dipping into the transfer market again this month after bringing Thierry Henry back to the club on loan, and Hills think that the Frenchman will be true to his word.
“We can see Arsene sticking to his, er, Gunners,” said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
The online bookmaker also offer odds of 13/8 that he brings in just one more player, 9/2 that he signs two more and 12/1 that three or more new players join the club this month.
Injuries to defenders Per Mertesacker, Thomas Vermaelen, Kieran Gibbs, Carl Jenkinson and Andre Santos had led many to suggest that Wenger could be tempted to buy this month. But the Arsenal boss does not agree that there are suitable options available.
“You can find players who do not play with their clubs but, by the time they get fit to play, we have our injured players back,” said Wenger.
“Or you find a young player who does not play somewhere and, in the time it takes for him to get used to the Premier League, you have your injured players back as well.”
