Arsenal v B Dortmund: RVP to be MVP once again

Robin van Persie has been on a rampage so far this season

Arsenal face Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night in the knowledge that a win would send them through to the knockout stages of the Champions League. They are coming back to the form that many people would expect from a typical Arsene Wenger side as they have fully recovered from their early season jitters and lifted themselves to within three points of Tottenham in third.

In terms of form in Europe, they have been hit and miss; remaining undefeated during their four group games but suffering setbacks including a 0-0 draw at home to Marseille in their last encounter. A win against the reigning German champions would eliminate any doubts that Arsenal don’t deserve to be amongst Europe’s elite.

As far as goals are concerned, there is only one man to look for in Arsenal’s line-up. Robin van Persie has been on a rampage so far this season, bagging another pair against Norwich on Saturday to cement him firmly on top of the Premier League scorer’s list. Should Arsenal win the game against Dortmund, you have to think that Van Persie will be involved in any goals for the home side.

Dortmund, on the other hand, have started impressively in the German Bundesliga, lodging themselves firmly behind leaders Bayern Munich. Away from home, they tend to have low scoring affairs, with their seven encounters so far this season producing a total of 12 goals. However, they need to win this game or else they are out of the Champions League and are instead fighting for a Europa League place with Olympiakos.

Bearing that in mind, I would say that there are goals in this game, with over 2.5 goals available at 4/5 with Paddy Power. With the away side having to go for it, I believe that there will be opportunities for Arsenal to pick them off and I can see a 3-1 scoreline coming to fruition at 16/1 with Sky Bet.

Recommended Bet:

Arsenal to win by two goals at 5/1 with SkyBet

Robin van Persie to score anytime at 6/5 with Betfred
