Arsenal v Wolves Betting: Wanderers looking elsewhere

McCarthy has been known to sacrifice games with seemingly more important ones on the horizon

Arsenal can move into the top four of the Premier League for only the second time this season with victory over Wolves this Tuesday afternoon, leapfrogging Chelsea who dropped more points against Fulham yesterday.

Following a devastating start to the season the Gunners have almost completed the turnaround. To finish the year inside the top four would be an achievement to rival any other in the Premier League and set Arsene Wenger’s men up for a genuine challenge for some much-sought silverware in the second half of the season.

Wenger’s defensive headache was exasperated by the news that Kieran Gibbs faces another prolonged period on the sidelines, but he will be buoyed by the news that Johan Djourou’s recovery is ahead of schedule and Alex Song returns from suspension.

Wolves have no fresh injury concerns, but Mick McCarthy has been known to sacrifice games with seemingly more important ones on the horizon. This fixture comes prior to a trip to the Reebok to take on fellow strugglers Bolton and therefore McCarthy’s team selection may be on the tentative side.

Prioritising games is a dangerous gamble in the Premier League, but one that has paid off for Wanderers numerous times in the past. That will play into Arsenal’s hands here.

At odds of 1/4 with Paddy Power Arsenal look a worthwhile bet for those that don’t mind piling into short priced favourites. However, we’re not in that game and instead we’ll go for the 8/5 that Coral are offering on Arsenal to win by three or more goals.
